datamochi is seeking native Japanese speakers who are also literature professionals or scholars. This role combines your literary expertise with language mastery, helping train cutting-edge AI models in the literary domain.
You will leverage your background in Japanese literature, alongside your bilingual communication skills, to create accurate, culturally nuanced, and intellectually precise content that reflects the depth and richness of Japanese literary traditions.
Role Responsibilities
- Literary Content Development: Analyze, translate, and synthesize complex literary texts, themes, and cultural contexts from Japanese literature spanning classical to contemporary periods.
- Bilingual Communication: Write fluently in both Japanese and English, ensuring precise literary terminology and nuanced expression across languages.
- Domain Expertise: Provide insights into Japanese literary movements, canonical works, narrative structures, and the cultural significance of literary traditions in Japan.
- Collaboration: Work closely with reviewers and peers to refine content, validate interpretations, and align outputs with scholarly standards.
Ideal Candidates Should Have
- Language Skills: Native-level fluency in Japanese with strong written and spoken English.
- Education: Advanced degree in Japanese Literature, Comparative Literature, or a related field.
- Experience: 2–6+ years of professional experience in literary analysis, teaching, translation, or academic research.
- Analytical Abilities: Excellent writing, analytical, and critical thinking skills. Experience with literary criticism and scholarly writing is highly desired.
Nice to Haves
- Experience with classical Japanese texts (Man'yōshū, Tale of Genji, etc.) is a plus.
- Familiarity with modern and contemporary Japanese authors (Mishima, Murakami, Ogawa, etc.) is beneficial.
- Familiarity with generative AI models or machine learning concepts is a bonus, but not required.
